Tool design and micro-molding process optimization

Continuous development of products to the medical and the audio industries is at the heart of the business at Ortofon. This requires a constant focus on development, implementation and optimization of plastics and rubber molding techniques and tools. Therefore, Ortofon is currently looking to hire an experienced engineer, who can take the lead of own projects while collaborating with both inhouse and external stakeholders. This is an opportunity to join a team of competent and driven design engineers and participate in the establishment of a new engineering site located in the southern part of Zealand. The recent establishment of this new engineering office will initiate new exciting projects based on the know-how and experience that characterize Ortofon.

As Tool Design & Technology Engineer you will be working with Ortofon’s own products as well as projects for Ortofon’s business customers. Part of your responsibilities will be to carry out part design in plastics and rubber for micro-molding, including optimization for injection molding using Moldflow simulation. In addition, you will be responsible for prototype mold design and testing, and you will have the responsibility for new mold implementation for serial production. You carry out injection process validation for the micro components in accordance with ISO 13485, and you provide technical documentation of the production process.

In the position as Tool Design & Technology Engineer you will become part of an expanding and highly dedicated and competent team of engineers. You will collaborate closely with your colleague design engineers, with Ortofon’s production team in Nakskov, with external tool makers and with business customers to advice and carry out their projects related to your area of expertise.


An experienced tool designer with an expertise in process technology

The ideal candidate for this job has started out as a tool maker, subsequently adding theoretical skills and knowledge by a degree in mechanical engineering or process technology. You have several years of experience with production technologies and with designing parts and tools for injection molding. You have hands-on experience with the processes and machines used in injection molding and you have experience in the field of micro-mechanics. You are a skilled user of 3D CAD programs – preferably SolidWorks.

You have a hands-on and practical approach to your work. You are a team-oriented person, who sees value in collaboration and professional sparring, yet you are also able to work independently and proactively. In your interaction with customers and colleagues, you are outgoing and sociable, and you enjoy meeting and working with new people. Furthermore, you have an open and visionary mindset, and you can see yourself contributing to the continued growth of Ortofon.
