Ortofon is known for designing and manufacturing high-end cartridges for the audio industry. Ortofon is also a supplier to the hearing health care industry, making highly specialized micro-mechanical and micro-molding components. Continuous product development is at the heart of the business at Ortofon. Therefore, Ortofon strives to always have competent design engineers, who are driven by innovation and creativity. You now have a unique opportunity to join this team of competent and driven engineers, and to participate in the establishment of a new engineering site in the southern part of Zealand. The recent establishment of this new engineering office will initiate new exciting projects based on the know-how and experience that characterize Ortofon.

In the position as Lead Mechanical Design Engineer at Ortofon you will contribute to the core business, when you creatively develop solutions for both inhouse projects and projects for Ortofon’s business customers. You will take on the role as initiator and motivator for the design team, providing your colleagues with task-specific sparring and guidance when needed. One of your responsibilities will be to generate creative ideas for future product development in the device design. This both includes renewing existing platforms, creating new platforms as well as working on customer specific projects, always providing core Ortofon knowledge and expertise in the solutions.

You will work with 3D modeling and drawings in SolidWorks, as well as static and dynamic simulations. In addition, you will use rapid prototyping with 3D printing technology, after which you will run the testing of prototypes. The overall development of new products is done in compliance with ISO 13485. You will collaborate closely with the design engineer team, with the production team in Nakskov, and in some instances with the business customer of a specific project.  

An innovative mindset and experience with micro-mechanics


To excel in this job, you hold a BA or MA, probably in mechanical engineering. You have a few years of experience from a similar position, where you have been working with designing micro-mechanical components or products. You are passionate about innovation and new solutions. You have a professional interest in functional and user design, you have knowledge of vibro-acoustics, magnetism and theory of static and strength. You thrive with presenting your ideas via CAD models and prototypes, and you also demonstrate your design by designing required test cases.

You have a hands-on and practical approach to your work. You are a team-oriented person, who see the value in collaboration and professional sparring, yet you are also able to work independently and proactively. Furthermore, you have an open and visionary mindset, and you can see yourself contributing to the continued growth of Ortofon
