Field Application Engineer

High quality technical support to sales colleagues and customers in the Nordics

Kollmorgen is a subsidiary of Altra Industrial Motion Corp. and is a leading global manufacturer of motion systems for a variety of applications. The company has manufacturing facilities, engineering centers, customer service and sales in all major regions of the world.

As Field Application Engineer you will become part of a team supporting the local sales team and providing technical support and product training to customers. The position reports to the European Application Engineering Manager. The Application Engineering team currently consists of three colleagues, and it is expected to be extended further as the company grows.

You will assume responsibility for technical high quality and timely support to the Regional Sales Manager and the customers in the Nordic markets. In addition, you will be interfacing and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders and international colleagues, such as manufacturing, quality, sourcing etc.

Your primary responsibilities include:

• Sizing of entire automation control and drive systems, including auxiliary subsystems and components

• Creating specifications and compiling BOMs

• Validation and verification on servo drives, motors, cables and feedback systems, e.g., in relation to quotations made by the Regional Sales Manager

• Supporting commissioning of Kollmorgen’s systems

• Providing technical support, product presentations, and training to customers and the sales team

• Participation in trade fairs, exhibitions and conferences as required

Your primary workplace will be a home office, but you will be spending a major part of your time interacting with customers, the sales team and international colleagues onsite or remote.  

High level of specialization within automation, mechatronics, robotics or similar

Your educational background is most likely a degree in electrical, mechatronic or hybrid engineering, and you have built experience in a similar technical role within motion systems, motors, drives or gearboxes.

You thrive in a role combining high quality technical solutions and customer focus. You will be a go-to person on technical issues and solutions, and therefore it is important that you enjoy technical problem solving, specification and validation of solutions as well as building trusting relationships with your stakeholders.

In addition, it is important for your success in this role, that you are adaptable, solution oriented and seize opportunities. You are a self-starter, work independently but you are also characterized by being a team-player that focuses on getting things done in close collaboration with your colleagues.

There will be travelling activity connected to this role, as you will be travelling to visit customers within the Nordic region as well as colleagues within Europe. You are fluent in English, and preferably one or more of the Nordic languages.
